Ladies: St Michaels make journey a fruitful one

St. Michaels made the trip to sunny Ballivor on Monday evening last for their 3rd match in this years league campaign a fruitful one with a comfortable victory over the home side.

St. Michaels were made fight all the way for this hard earned victory by a gallant Ballivor side who could do everything bar put scores on the board. The home side were first on the score sheet with a point on 3 minutes, Aisleen Regan opened the scoring for St. Michaels with 2 early points, but Ballivor fought back and were on level terms on 10 minutes but they managed only one more score, a goal, for the remaining 20 minutes of the half as Emma Farrell 0-1, Marion Farrelly 0-2, Sinéad McCormack 0-2, Fiona Nevin 1-1 and Sally Keogan 1-0 were all on target for St. Michaels who led by 2-10 to 1-2 at the interval.

A goal apiece from Marion Farrelly and Rebecca Lynch stretched that lead to 16 points after 44 minutes of play. Ballivor enjoyed their most productive spell of the match between the 45th and 53rd minute when they registered 1-4 without reply however they couldn't maintain their fight back and St. Michaels finished out the match with 2 further points. Together with the scorers Mary Clinton, Mary Carpenter Patricia Owens and Ellen Cassidy were others to impress for St. Michaels.
