The second part of a Blackhall/Dunboyne Championship double header in Ashbourne was the first round Junior C meeting of the clubs. A repeat of the competitions 2013 semi final when the Gaels came from behind to book a place in the final. Again on this occasion it was Blackhall that took the honors under the lights in Ashbourne.

Quick to make up for the disappointment of the senior game result Blackhalls second team went about putting Dunboyne to task. Mark Crampton was in scintillating form finishing the game with a seven point haul, the Blackhall talisman showing no signs that he is far from finished.

Playing with the wind in the first half, David Ferris opened the scoring for the Gaels and were soon 4-1 to the good. Further points from Thomas Coyle and Mark Ferris paired it an impressive 5 first half points from Sparky Crampton meant the Gaels were worthy 8-4 leaders at half time.

Prepared for a backlash in the second half from Dunboyne, Blackhall started where they left off scoring first through Ciaran Cummins. Dunboyne set about reeling in Blackhall using that wind to great effect they were soon back in the game when mid way through the half they had the ball in the Blackhall net. That had the game at 1-7 to 0-10 with the momentum swinging in Dunboynes favor. But credit Blackhall who never lay down as they rattled off three unanswered points to see off the challenge by that margin. Final score in Ashbourne Blackhall Gaels 0-13 Dunboyne 1-7.
