Junior B Championship Round One

Slane 0-13
Wolfe Tones 1-10

The opening few minutes of this game set the tone for the entire match with fast paced, end to end football that saw both teams spurn early chances. Slane finally opened the scoring with a pointed free. Wolfe Tones responded and gained a one point advantage before both teams traded further scores. The point of the half came from the boot of Daniel Carolan who jinked inside his man before swinging over an excellent score. Wolfe Tones then pushed on and finished the half leading by 7pts to 5pts.

The second half started with Slane struggling to find their feet and Wolfe Tones used this to their advantage by tagging on further scores. Slane kept themselves in touch with scores from Kevin Reilly and Gym Marry.

Midway through the second half and Wolfe Tones looked to have landed the killer blow by latching onto a breaking ball and scoring the only goal of the game to leave them 5pts ahead. Both teams traded further scores before Slane rallied and got what the fully deserved from the match with 3pts from Eoin Feeley and one from Padraig McGowan before midfielder Gym Marry ran at the Tones defence to send over the equaliser with the last kick of the game.

Both teams played some excellent football throughout and although trailing by 5pts Slane will feel they may have deserved even more from this match.
