Lack of refs still an issue

Referees' co-ordinator Donal Smyth again highlighted the shortage of 'whistle blowers' in the county at Monday's county board meeting.

He said that clubs should have no say in the appointing of referees for their games, especially the clubs who are not supplying referees.

TJ Reilly was critical of the lack of representation from the weaker counties on the hurling review committee. The Boardsmill delegate also expressed disappointment that the Christy Ring Cup is not played to curtain-raiser to a Liam McCarthy Cup game as was initially proposed with live television coverage of the decider.

The Tommy Carrigy Cup for the 2013 Under-21 HC was presented to Richard Morris of Blackhall Gaels by Tormey. Blackhall were awarded the title after Kiltale failed to put in an appearance for the final.
