Leinster U20 FC round-up: Dublin, Meath and Kildare progress

Dublin and Meath will face off in the last four of this year's Leinster U20 FC while Kildare edged out Offaly in today’s other quarter-final fixture.

Holders Dublin enjoyed a 3-10 to 0-9 last eight success over Longford at Parnell Park.

Lorcan O’Dell found the back of the midlanders’ net in the eight minute but the sides went in level at the break (1-3 to 0-6) before goals from Ciaran Archer and Conor Kinsella capped a fine second-half performance by Tom Gray’s side.

Their reward is a semi-final date with Meath who also produced an impressive second-half display in their quarter-final clash with Wexford at St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy, 1-12 to 1-5.

Ger Robinson’s side conceded a first-minute goal to Todd Hynes and trailed by 0-4 to 1-2 at the change of ends but they bossed the second-half exchanges with Royal senior star Shane Walsh leading the way with 1-3.

Elsewhere, late points from Shane O’Sullivan (free), Alex Beirne and Paddy McDermott saw Kildare come from behind to progress at Offaly’s expense.

The Lilywhites registered a minimum margin 1-7 to 0-9 win on home soil.

O’Sullivan scored the game’s only goal in 38th minute and that was crucial in helping his team overturn a 0-2 to 0-6 half-time deficit.

They now await the winners of today’s postponed quarter-final clash between Laois and Wexford.
