Dunboyne SPS 1-9

St. Pauls NS Navan 1-3

Like in the drawn game last Saturday, scores were hard to come by especially in the opening 25 minutes.

Nathan Reilly got the scoreboard working for the Navan school and although they had to wait 13 minutes for their opening score Dunboyne hit back with three unanswered points through Charlie Gallagher, Cormac Horan and James Lonergan.

St Pauls only other score of the half came from a converted free by captain Jack Collier as Dunboyne took a narrow 0-3 to 0-2 lead to the team huddle at the break.

The eventual winners extended that lead inside 6 minutes of the second half with fine points from Gallagher and Senan O'Mahony. But like in the drawn game St Pauls proved they could get goals and that just what Cormac Maguire did in the 9th minute to tie up proceedings. Matthew Cunningham and Cormac Fitzsimmons traded points and the sides were level with ten minutes to go.

But in the space of 40 seconds between the 21st and 22nd minute, the game swung firmly in Dunboyne's favour. Hero from the drawn game James Lonergan hit 1-1 to put an end to a brave St. Pauls challenge. Gallagher and Cunningham added points to seal a great win for the boys in Black and Amber.

After the game Francis Flynn presented the Kyle Gavigan Cup to Dunboyne captain Tadgh Brennann.
