God Bless young Darren Connell

The late Darren Connell in action for the Meath Under 16's

Yesterday, Wednesday, September 11th, Darren Connell departed this world and made his way to sit beside the great God in the skies.

Brave, tenacious and skilful on the football fields, Darren was only seventeen years old. But in the Blue of Oldcastle or the Green and Gold of Meath he packed a huge amount into those seventeen summers. He was an outstanding player for both club and county.

Darren Connell was kicking a ball around the playing fields in Millbrook while barely out of his pampers. He lined out in all under age grades for the north Meath club, often while years short of the age limit.

Darren played for the Meath under 14's and was a vital part of the 2018 Gerry Reilly Cup winning combination. He was heavily involved with the Meath minor selection of the spring and summer gone.

Our loss is heaven's huge gain. Sincerest and most heartfelt sympathies to his parents, brothers and sister, his many friends and relations and to the Oldcastle GAA club.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dhilis.
