June 24, 2019

Oisin Corrigan Wolfe Tones

Bhulf Tón 2-16 Drumbaragh 1-7

Ócáid stairiúil a bhí ann aréir nuair a imríodh an chéad cluiche oifigiúil ar an bpáirc nua i mBaile Ghib. Páirc den scoth atá ann agus tá súil ag lucht tacaíochta Bhulf Tón go mbainfidh a bhfoirne uile an-úsáid as sna blianta ata romhainn. Ar aon nós tús iontach ab ea é toisc taispeántas an mhaith ón foireann baile le bua thar Drumbaragh mar ba é seo an chéad cluiche a chaill Drumbaragh sa sraith go dtí seo.

This was the first official adult fixture played in the newly developed Páirc Bhaile Ghib and the home side did the occasion justice with a convincing win over high flying Drumbaragh to top the league with one game left and in with a great chance of making the final. In years to come local club historians will recall the first scores in this magnificent new facility being scored by the two “Davys”,  Davy O Neill with the first goal, the first point being scored by Davy Coleman (both Keegan Cup winners in 2006). These scores coming in the first two minutes got the Tones off to the best possible start. They seemed to revel in the open spaces and led by 1 07 to 0 01 after 20 minutes. Drumbaragh rallied and added 1 02 without reply to leave the half time score 1 07 to 1 03. The visitors rally was short lived as after the interval Tones put 1 02 on the board without reply in the opening ten minutes. Adrian Sheridan finished off a fine move with a well taken goal before Rossa mc Donnell and Mark Mc Keever added the points. Drumbaragh replied with 3 points and hit the crossbar before the end of the third quarter but it was all Tones from there to the end as they added 7 points while just conceding one for the last quarter. This was a good team performance with excellent performances from experienced campaigners Ciarán Mc Loughlin, Rossa Mc Donnell, Davy O Neill and David Coleman well supported by Kieran Conway, Aonghus Mc Loughlin and Tom Gavigan.
