A last minute goal salvaged a draw for the home side in this entertaining hurling  game played in drizzly conditions in Ashbourne on Friday night.

The game began with Donaghmore Ashbourne on the front foot and a goal in the 14th minute gave them an early 5 point lead. From then until half time Ratoath gradually whittled away at the lead and scored four unanswered points from frees and general play to leave just the bare minimum between the sides as the referee blew the half time whistle  : Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-4 Ratoath 0-6.

It was the visitors then who began the second half with a flurry of scores including a well taken goal in the 33rd minute. Another green flag was raised for Ratoath in the 48th minute and now looked strong favourites for victory leading 2-10 to 1-7.

Donaghmore Ashbourne though had other ideas with a goal and a point of their own soon after suddenly it was a 2 point game again. Ratoath though regained the initiative and stretched it out again to 2-13 to 2-9 as the game approached injury time . Alas for the men in blue and yellow Donaghmore Ashbourne had the final say as they converted a free and then scrambled the ball to the back of the net with virtually the last puck of the game .

Ratoath though at least have the consolation of remaining top of the Division 4 A league after 3 games.
