Team news: Royals include five debutants

Meath boss Andy McEntee has included five debutants in his starting 15 to face Laois in the O'Byrne Cup at O'Moore Park this evening.

Ronan Ryan (Summerhill) and Gavin McCoy (Dunboyne) make up the left-side of defence with Danny Quinn (Ballinabrackey), Darragh Campion (Skryne) and James Conlon (St Colmcilles) taking up positions in attack.

A promising dual-star, Ryan was recently named Meath's ‘Young Hurler of the Year while McCoy won a call-up to the county squad during last season but had limited game-time.

Quinn was outstanding for the Meath junior side that reached the Leinster final in June while both Campion and Conlon were key members of the Royals' 2018 U20 squad.

Meanwhile, 2013 All-Star nominee Michael Newman is named at full-forward having impressed on his return from a year out of inter-county football in a SF challenge match last month.
