Simonstown 0-6 Ratoath 1-13
Simonstown Gaels lost out to Ratoath in the semi final of the under 21 championship semi final in Skryne.
The Gaels struggled against a stiff breeze in the first half and failed to gain any meaningful territory in the opening period. Eoghan Gough registered the Navan men's first point and only point of the first half. The North Side Blues gave away 5 frees which were dispatched with relative ease. The wind played a significant factor throughout the game, the Gaels decided to carry the ball up the field which was ponderous and slow. The full forward line were isolated and had very few opportunities for scoring. Score after a disappointing first half was Ratoath 0-9 Simonstown 0-1.
The second half began with a lot of stoppages which suited Ratoath. Simonstown struggled to find rhythm and any pattern to their play. In truth the deficit was insurmountable and unfortunately from a Gael's perspective the wind calmed and became benign. Ben Hoey racked up 4 frees and young Eddie Nash scored a super individual point. Any hope of a Simonstown comeback was extinguished when Ratoath scored their only goal of the match on the 55th minute. This made it a 9 point game. Simonstown can be happy with the displays of Oisin Lavin Kelly, David Maguire,Michael Gavin and Mark Devlin.
