St Ultans Cortown Gaels/Round Towers withstood a strong St Colmcilles comeback to claim the win in this Division 1 MFC encounter at Cortown on Wednesday evening.

Playing together for the first time, it took a while for the new combination to find their feet and although Dylan Morgan opened the scoring after four minutes, St Colmcilles scored three of the next four points. After the Seasiders had equalised Larry Morgan pointed but two scores had St Colmcilles ahead for the only time in the game - 0-3 to 0-2 on the quarter hour mark.

St Ultans Cortown Gaels/Round Towers then hit a purple patch, hitting six points in-a-row to take control as Dylan Morgan (2), Turlough Carry, Declan Mullins (2) and Adam Rogers all raised white flags. St Colmcilles pointed in injury time as the home side led 0-8 to 0-4 at the break.

Dylan Morgan stretched the advantage before St Colmcilles responded and further points from Pauric Rennicks and Morgan had St Ultans Cortown Gaels/Round Towers 0-11 to 0-6 ahead with fifteen minutes to play.

St Colmcilles finished the stronger and scored five of the next six points but Dylan Morgan's score proved crucial as the home side defended brilliantly to earn the win by the minimum margin.
