JFC B: Spirited performance from Moynalvey

August 13, 2018

Moynalvey's Sean Duggan

Moynalvey 1-9  St Patricks 2-9

Played in Seneschalstown, Moynalvey really struggled to get a team together for this game but the 15 that did play put in a spirited performance against a good St Pats team.

It was tit for tat in the opening half with never more than a point between the sides. However a goal for St Pats with the last kick of the half saw them go into the lead on a score line of 1-4 to 0-5 at the interval.

The gap grew wider early in the second half when St Pats got a second goal. However, Moynalvey never gave up and a goal from Darragh Branigan with less than 10 minutes to go reduced the gap to 3 points. However, despite creating some chances Moynalvey could not reel their opponents in and St Patricks secured a deserved win.

Having suffered a heavy defeat against Na Fianna in the last round, this was a much improved performance from Moynalvey with the game in the balance right until the end.

Moynalvey: Vinny Walsh; David Brennan, Conor Egan, David Durkan; Anthony Brien, David Donoghue, Darragh Branigan (1-0); Brian Conneely (0-1), Matt Brennan; Padraig Kelly, Sean Deering (0-1), Scott Tuite; Aidan Gilsenan, Sean Duggan (0-2), James O'Neill (0-5).
