AJ Gilsenan St. Brigids

Carnaross 2-17  St Brigids 2-8

St Brigids met group leaders Carnaross on a sunny and breezy Sunday evening in Ballinlough.

Carnaross were quick to point and get themselves on the scoreboard, however St Brigids fought back and  points from Joseph Blake, Anthony Moore, Kevin Gilsenan and captain Padraig Plunkett as well as two excellently saved goal chances by Dylan Scully kept St Brigids to within only a 4 point trail at the half time mark.

10 minutes into the second half saw St Brigids lose Aaron Skelly to an ankle injury and the introduction of Tomas Blake as replacement into the forward line. A brave goal from Ryan Tighe seemed to lift Brigids momentum and maintain the 4 point gap, however Carnaross had a persistent score response. A second goal for the Brigids by Tomas Blake was quickly responded to by a second goal from Carnaross who left the field with the winning group points.

Best for St. Brigids were Dylan Scully, Padraig Plunkett and Anto Moore.

A strong work ethic by the Brigids, particularly in the second half, who now focus on their final group game against Clann na Gael.
