Sad passing of five-time Navan O'Mahonys SFC winner Frank Carberry

The death has occurred of five-time Navan O'Mahonys SFC winning goalkeeper Frank Carberry following a short illness.
A talented underage player with De La Salle, Frank started his adult football playing days with Simonstown and lined out between the posts in the 1970 Junior B final which, ironically, they lost to Navan O'Mahonys.
He subsequently transferred to the Brews Hill club and won the first of his five senior medals in 1973. He added to his collection in 1979, '81, '85 and '87.
His club performances caught the attention of county selectors and he was a member of the Meath squad that captured NFL honours in 1975.
A popular taxi driver, 66-year-old Frank was also well-known in local political circles and served three stints as a Fianna Fail chairman of Navan Urban Council.
Sympathies are extended to his wife Jean, son Keith, daughters Louise and Chloe, sister Margaret, son-in-law Noel, grandchildren Adam, Conor and Ava, extended family and large circle of friends.
Funeral arrangements:
Reposing at the Fitzsimons Funeral Home, Navan on Wednesday afternoon from 4pm, with removal at 7.40pm to arrive in St. Mary's Church at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 12 o'clock (noon), followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
