FL Div 1: Vital Win for Na Fianna

Na Fianna secured a valuable win over St Pat's in Enfield on Saturday afternoon to boost their prospects of retaining their Division 1 status.

With a lengthy injury list, Na Fianna have struggled in the league but an accomplished performance here gives them hope of staying up.

Na Fianna dominated proceedings for much of the first half, with Lee Hyland, Andrew Glynn and Conor Downey taking good points. Sean Rafferty netted a well worked goal while midfielders Owen McDonnell and Evan Henrick, a twentieth minute substitute for the injured Brian Queeney also pointed. Na Fianna led 1-05 to 0-4 at half time.

Na Fianna continued in the ascendency in the second half with their defence in particularly good form. McDonnell and Henrick pointed again as did Damien Downey while Barry Clancy made his first appearance of the season hitting two late points. The gloss on the win was applied with a goal that was well finished by Dean Barrett.

Best for Na Fianna were Sean Coffey, Oran Smullen, Owen McDonnell, Sean Rafferty, Conor Downey and Evan Henrick.
