Dunshaughlin Report

Dunshaughlin 1-09 Summerhill 4-08

On a glorious Summer evening in Summerhill, Dunshaughlin were out to gain their first win of the Division 1 campaign as they took on an in form Summerhill.

The away side started the better and flew out of the traps thanks to three points from Fergus Toolan. They could have been further ahead in the opening period but for some wayward shooting. Despite fielding without senior regulars Thomas Johnson, Tadhg O'Dushlaine, Adam Kealy and Shane Gallogly, Dunshaughlin supporters were feeling confident after the opening exchanges.

Their confidence was dented when Summerhill took over and scored 3-3 in a 15mins spell. This left Dunshaughlin playing catch up for the remainder of the match. The deficit proved too much to claw back despite honest effort all over the field. Wes Goodwin scored an important goal before half time. The young corner forward dribbled the ball along the ground before he soccered it to the net.

Dunshaughlin had a lot of possession in the second half but they couldn't convert it to scores unfortunately. The could have been right back into contention but for a penalty miss from Cian Gallogly. Gallogly was lively throughout and did kick some nice scores.

In the end Summerhill ran out comfortable 8 point winners. It's onto the next round for Dunshaughlin as they go in search of some valuable points.

Dunshaughlin: A.McDermott, A.Doyle, N.Murphy, O.Foley, D.Dunne, C.King, E.Casserly, B.Duggan, R.Maloney, F.Toolan (0-5), R.Geraghty, T.Kinsella, C.Gallogly (0-2), N.Byrne (0-1), W.Goodwin (1-1). Subs: P.Maher, T.Dowd
