Curraha 2-16 Nobber 1-14

Another solid second half saw Curraha gain back to back wins in this year's Division 2 AFL campaign.

Andrew Battersby opened the scoring for the home side on 3 minutes and after 13 minutes the sides were level on 0-2 apiece with Conor Moriarty adding a free. Curraha started to get on top and registered four unanswered points from Battersby, Moriarty, David Toner and Jack O'Connor. However, Nobber were still gaining lots of possession and received a penalty late on in the half which was slotted to the net. O'Connor added his second soon after which was cancelled out by a late Nobber free to leave Curraha ahead by the minimum at half time.

Nobber started the second half the better and had five unanswered points registered by the 7thminute to lead by 1-08 to 0-07. Some positional changes saw Curraha finally gain some well needed possession and a fine point from captain Neil Shortall brought the deficit back to three. This was followed by a brace of frees by Moriarty either side of a Battersby point. This had the sides level but Nobber were not going to go down without a fight and they two more points to go back in front but a fantastic pass from Niall Murphy found the influential Moriarty who turned and buried it to the net. This gave his side great momentum and although Nobber drew level straight away, substitute Paraic O'Hanrahan had his side back in front. Soon after Curraha got their second goal of the game which saw Toner finish a fantastic move to the net. A free from Nobber brought themselves back within two but O'Hanrahan added two more points while fellow sub David Coyle also got on the score sheet. A late free from the away side was cancelled out by Shortall's second of the game.

The concession of 1.05 to 3 points in the last 9 minutes proved to be the undoing of Nobber in this exciting clash at Curraha on Friday evening. The visitors will rue the shooting of 10 wides in the first period even though they went in only 1 down  at the break, there scorers being Sean Meade 1-2 the goal coming from a penalty after Fiachra McEntee was taken down in the area and Dale Larkin.

On the restart Nobber showed some fine form firing over 5 quick fire points to gain control. In fairness to Curraha they kept chipping away at the lead and had drawn level by the 47th minute taking control for the remainder of the game though they may be flattered by the 5 point margin they ran out deserving winners. Nobber scores on this second period came from Jordan Morris 4, Sean Meade 3, Alan Farrell 1, Fiachra McEntee 1, Paul Meade and Dean Halpin.
