Simonstown Gaels 1-14 St. Peter's Dunboyne 3-13

Dunboyne followed up their SFC win over Simonstown with this five point win in the All County League Division 1 clash at Simonstown.

Simonstown fielded an under strength squad due to injuries and players away for the bank holiday. This gave Michael Gavin and Aaron Geraghty their first senior starts. Simonstown can be pleased with the endeavor and hard work put in by a number of players but Dunboyne's clinical forwards proved too hard to handle. 

The game was tight throughout and Simonstown opened the scoring with two Sean Tobin frees. Nathan O'Brien registered on the score sheet with a sublime individual point. O'Brien served up the sausages and breakfast this morning but still had superb energy throughout the game. Chris O'Neill  scored another goal and showed great sharpness to latch onto an effort that rebounded off the post. O'Neill buried from close range and this meant Simonstown were 3 points up halfway through the first half. Shane Comiskey, scorer of a goal in the championship game, again was wreaking havoc for the Simonstown defense and scored another goal. Dunboyne were 1 point up after the goal. Ben Hoey, Chris O'Neill and Sean Tobin scored before the interval and this left the game Dunboyne 1-7 Simonstown 1-6. 

The second half began with Dunboyne opening the scoring. Simonstown responded with 4 unanswered points through Sean Tobin, Brian McGrath, Ben Hoey and Chris O'Neill scoring all from play. Simonstown found themselves 2 points up but Dunboyne answered back with a sensational goal by Jones. Jones found himself one on one with Burlingham and he blasted the ball past him. Micky Dunne's goal effectivly ended the game as a contest and Simonstown struggled to create any goal scoring opportunities. Best for Simonstown was Michael Gavin, Sean Tobin, Mark Gardiner and James Heaney.
