The late Joe Bray

The late Joe Bray

So sad to report the death of Navan O Mahonys clubman Joe Bray.

Joe hailed from the Dunderry area and was a well known member of a great local sporting family with greyhounds and GAA top of the agenda.

He wore the distinctive black and white jersey at senior level for Dunderry through the 1970s, usually lining out at midfield and people from this era will tell you that Joe had as good a left foot as anybody on the then Meath club circuit.

Moving to Navan, Joe became involved with the O Mahonys club where his sons Stephen and David started to show promise as outstanding young footballers.

Of course both went on to represent Meath and won every domestic honour with O Mahonys. Popular Stephen captained Meath and gained a coveted All Star award in 2007.

Our sincerest sympathy to his wife Kathleen (both Kathleen and Joe were a regular twosome at games around the county) and to the boys plus a host of family members and friends. Joe was hugely popular amongst his work colleagues at Meath County Council.

Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

Funeral arrangements:

Reposing at his home Liscarton, today, Friday from 2pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12noon in St Mary's Church, Navan with burial afterwards in Boyerstown cemetery.
