The late Ollie Marry

Another link with Meath's 1949 All Ireland win has been broken following the sad passing of Balrath man Ollie Marry.

As the Meath squad made their way to Croke Park to claim their first Sam Maguire Cup they stopped off at Marry's farmhouse on the main road to Dublin at Ballymagarvey for a cup of tea and sandwiches provided by Ollie's dad Austin. A young Ollie had very fond memories of that historic visit by the men who were on their way to make history.

Ollie Marry was one of life's true gentlemen and anyone that was privileged to be in his company was always entertained with his stories from years gone by.

A staunch Seneschalstown clubman, Ollie had a great love for all things Meath GAA and was a regular at club games, not only to see the Yellow Furze men in action but also all local clubs.

An avid follower of the county team Ollie took great satisfaction from all of Meath's successes and especially the All Ireland wins of 1987 and 1988. His daughter Cepta is married to All Star Brian Stafford, a key member of that outstanding side.

Ollie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Rita, his beloved son Pascal, daughters Cepta, Bridie and Celine, daughter-in-law Angela, sons-in-law, Brian, Ray and John, grandchildren Eimear, Laura, Karen, Robert, Anna and Niall, sisters Sr. Concepta and Sr. Gabrielle, nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
