Sad passing of Benny Gartland

Wolfe Tones and Meath GAA have lost an outstanding servant with the sad passing of Benny Gartland last Friday.

An Honorary President of Wolfe Tones, Kilberry resident Benny was well-known throughout the county from his involvement with underage county teams.

A former chairman of the Meath Minor Board, the popular Benny also served as a selector on numerous successful Leinster and All-Ireland winning teams.

A minute's silence was observed in his memory prior to yesterday's Allianz FL Division 2 fixture with Cork at Pairc Tailteann.

Benny is survived by his wife Mary, his daughter Bridie and sons Frank and Gerry, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral arrangements:

Reposing at St. Joseph's Chapel of Rest, Old Johnstown, Navan from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday & reposing at his home from 3pm to 8pm on Monday. Removal from his home on Tuesday morning to arrive in St. John the Baptist Church, Kilberry for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Kilberry Cemetery. House private on Tuesday morning & at all other times outside of reposing time please.
