FL Div 1: Disappointing trip for 'Seasiders'

March 12, 2018

St. Colmcille's Conor O'Byrne

Donaghmore Ashbourne 0-13 St Colmcilles 0-4

Played on a wet miserable night in Asbourne this was another disappointing evening for the visiting Seasiders.

The Cilles faced a formidable and unbeaten Donaghmore/Asbourne team in their fourth match of their A League campaign. The opening half was nip and tuck with little between the teams. Defenses were defintely to the fore in the opening half as each side found the going tough. The Cilles frustrated the home side in the opening half restricting them to only one point from play and two from free kicks.

The Cilles scorers in the opening half were two from the boot of Conor O'Byrne and a well taken point from corner back Adam Lynch as the teams went in at the break level 0-3 each.

The home side came out fighting in the second half and with the wind at their back they moved up a gear. Following another Conor O'Byrne point the sides were locked at 4pts each, but from there on it was tough going for the Cilles whom found their attacks thwarted. The Cilles will rue the concession of a number of frees in scoring areas and the home side were not going to squander these. The Cilles will look at a number of positives from the game and now face neighbors St Patricks in Stamullen on Wed 14th March at 20:00.
