FL Div 4: Ballivor maintain 100% start

March 12, 2018

Ballivor's Brendan McKeon

St. Marys 0-12 Ballivor 1-14

Ballivor maintained their 100% start to the year with a hard fought victory away to St. Marys on Saturday evening.

It was a stop start affair for much of the game with fouls being called for minimal contact for both sides.

Ballivor were out of the traps quickest with 3 unanswered points from both McKeons - Kevin and Brendan. The hosts then came to life kicking the next two points of the game from frees.

Most scores in the first half came from frees leaving the half time score at 0-05 to 0-08 to Ballivor at the break.

Ballivor again were the much livelier looking side at the beginning of the 2nd half, scoring a well taken goal from Ciarán Dowling.

The result was never really in doubt from then on, with Ballivor looking very steady in defence as St. Mary's struggled to carve out any meaningful opportunities.

The persistent fouling finally took it's toll when St. Marys had a man dismissed for a dangerous high challenge on the ever evasive Brendan Mckeon.

Ballivor managed the game well in the closing stages, not giving the hosts any hope of a late comeback.

Best on the day on another good day for the men in Maroon and White were Conor Smith in goals, Jacob Ryan in defence, with Brendan McKeon and Nicky Potterton impressing up front.
