Na Fianna 6-18 Trim 1-2
Trim junior football team suffered a heavy defeat in this B League Div 2 clash played in a cold but sunny Baconstown on Saturday evening.
Trim fielded a very young and inexperienced side and found it very hard against a very experienced Na Fianna side that fielded three players that featured in their A league victory over O'Mahonys the previous evening.
Na Fianna got out of the blocks fast and had 1-6 on the scoreboard after just eleven minutes and led at the break 3-12 to 0-1.
The second half was of a similar nature with Na Fianna dominating the exchanges at all times. A feature of this second half was a brilliant goal from Sean Thornton. This goal came from the kick out with the ball been played to the hand all the way up the field before Kevin Nally picked out the full forward with a beautiful kicked pass, Thornton turned his man to blast an unstoppable shot to the top corner of the Na Fianna net.
