The second have started as the first ended with both teams registering scores either end. A point from the industrious Stephen Meegan, saw Drumbaragh getting into gear and it was game on for the youthful visiting outfit. The moment that turned the game into a contest was a fantastic individual effort from William Carry, running from deep to rattle the back of the 'Wood net, midway through the second half.
Alarm bells were ringing for Longwood as they were in danger of losing this one. They needed to reply, and so they did so, raising the white flag with 21 minutes on the clock. And for the next 10 minutes Drumbaragh were made defend. And defend they did with Jamie Carry, John D Smith and Paddy Murray coming to the fore. Drumbaragh's resolute defensive structure was reinforced by the tireless tracking back of half forwards in Conor Lynch, Luke Fagan and midfielder Joe Carry. And it was midfielder Carry that broke out from the full back line after a turnover and wasted no time in dispatching the ball up the pitch to the Drums attack, where Longwood conceded a late free only for veteran James Connolly to slot over to see the points shared at the final whistle.
