A last minute free from Jack O'Connor gave Curraha an opening round success in this year's B League campaign.
Played under lights in Ashbourne, it was the home side who started the brighter and controlled matter for most of the opening half. Curraha wasted some opportunities and some good defending kept the home side out at times but they went in at the break leading 1-06 to 0-02 with O'Connor getting a free with his cousin Alan scoring a long-range effort.
Curraha started the second half better and points on the board from the Coyle brother David and Andrew. Points were traded between the sides with substitute Evan McGovern scoring for the Ha side. Two more frees a from O'Connor along with a fine effort from Sean Keogh had Curraha in full throttle but the home side still held a three-point advantage. Another point from Coyle was followed by great point from centre back Gary Dowling. As both teams searched for that vital winner mistakes were being made by it was Curraha who found an opportunity and the reliable O'Connor made no mistake in scoring the winning free.
