HL Div 3: Martyn on fire as Dunderry sink Tones

Dunderry 3-15 Wolfe Tones 0-5

Dunderry opened their 2018 hurling league campaign with an emphatic victory over Wolfe Tones in Dunganny. 

Dunderry were quick out of the blocks and after 9 minutes were 1-3 to 0-1 ahead. Captain Stephen Coogan opened the scoring with a well taken point, Luke Martyn added 1-1 and a free from Jamie Leavy put Dunderry in control. 

Martyn followed up with a further 1-2 between the 19th and 26th minutes and Leavy punished any conceded frees. Mickey Dowdall pulled off a superb save from a close range shot while Conor Farrell scored the last score of the half to leave Dunderry 2-8 to 0-2in front.

Last years Meath minor captain Jamie Leavy extended the lead early in the second half but Wolfe Tones responded well with 3 points. Their revival was short lived as Dunderry hit back with 1-6. Dowdall was called apon again and the keeper duly obliged with another fine save before the impressive Martyn rounded off proceedings with his third goal to bring his tally too 3-3 for the game.

Next up for Dunderry is Kildalkey away.
