St Colmcille's Report

St Colmcilles 0-10 : Donaghmore Ashbourne 3-07

The step up to Division 1 was always going to be challenging. Lining out with five lads making their first starts in B League football and another four getting game time, the Cilles started well. After conceding the first score, the Cilles had a good spell and scored four unanswered points from Eanna Walsh, Eoin Woods, and Ciaran Kelly (2). Two missed goal chances during this period were to prove costly as the visitors responded with a goal and point to take a lead they held for the rest of the match. Further Cilles scores from Ciaran Kelly and Sean Collier saw the half time score Cilles 0-06: Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-05

The first score of the second half was another point from Ciaran Kelly that reduced the deficit to a point. Don/Ash responded to this with another goal an point. The Cilles lads rallied again with three points in a row from Ciaran Kelly, Eoin Woods, and Sean Collier. However, Don/Ash completed the scoring with another goal and point.

There were a lot of positives to take from the game but to survive in this division we will need better ball retention and to take our scores when the opportunities arise. Next up is an another though challenge with an away trip to Summerhill.
