Boardsmill 2-14 Dunboyne 2-11

Boardsmill were away to Dunboyne for their first hurling match of 2018 and there drop down to division 2 was a sterner test than anticipated. 

Boardsmill were first off the mark with points from Bert Mcloughlin, Danny Dixon and the Flattery brothers but it would be veteran Vinny Guy who took the scoring honors bagging 1-2 before the end of the opening half. Boardsmill went in at the break 1-7 to  0-4 ahead.

The second half started at a slower pace with the soft ground clean hurling was proving difficult for both sides but a long ball infrom the impressive Fergal Flattery was caught by Thomas Leonard and hit the second goal of the match. Dunboyne hit back with 2-3 to to tie up the game with 10 minutes remaining. 

Cian Royston put Boardsmill back in front with a superb point while Guy added to his tally but once more St. Peters hit back to level matters. The Mill were not to be denied and points from Donal Flattery, Danny Dixon and Royston to seal a good win.

Best for Boardsmill were Cian Royston, Fergal Flattery, Liam O'Brien and Vinny Guy
