Team news: Gallagher to make first Meath start since 2012

January 06, 2018

Meath's David Gallagher

Goalkeeper David Gallagher will make his first start for Meath since 2012 when the Royal County face Wicklow at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday.

With Joe Sheridan (who made the switch from full-forward to goalie) dropping himself from the county panel last month, manager Andy McEntee has turned to his clubmate (who operates outfield for Dunboyne).

Another notable returnee for the Royals is Harry Rooney who missed all of last year due to his travels to Australia. He lines out at midfield alongside Adam Flanagan as McEntee hands out senior debuts to Shane Glynn and Luke Moran in defence and Mark McCabe in attack.

Meath (O'Byrne Cup v Wicklow): David Gallagher; Shane Glynn, Luke Moran, Mickey Burke; Donal Keogan, Brian Conlon, Alan Douglas; Adam Flanagan, Harry Rooney; Mark McCabe, David Toner, Graham Reilly; Sean Tobin, Ben Brennan, Paddy Kennelly.

Subs: Andrew Colgan, Bryan McMahon, Conor Dempsey, Conor McGill, Daragh Griffin, Eoghan Greene, Joey Wallace, Liam Ferguson, Luke Martyn, Bryan Menton, Shane McEntee.
