December 11, 2017

New Meath County Board Chairman Peter O'Halloran

Peter O'Halloran has been elected as Meath's new county board chairman at tonight's annual convention in Navan.

The Drumconrath clubman, who had served as the board's vice chairman for the past five years, succeeds Conor Tormey in the post after the latter had served his own five year-term in the Royal County.

John Kavanagh of St Ultan's will succeed O'Halloran as vice chairman while Dunshaughlin's Mairead Delaney is the board's new secretary after she was elected unopposed at tonight's convention.

Elsewhere, Jim Mullery (Slane) will serve his third year as county treasurer in 2018 while Anne McDonald of Summerhill comes in as the new assistant secretary.

Newly elected PRO Ciaran Flynn (Dunsany), who served as juvenile board secretary this year, replaces Martin O'Halloran with the Rathmoylon man having completed his five years. Ciaran's father Francis Flynn (outgoing secretary) was also elected assistant treasurer on the night.
