Na Fianna 2-19 Kildalkey 0-14
Na Fianna defeated Kildalkey in this 3rd round intermediate championship campaign and maintained their 100% record on Friday evening in Boardsmill.
It was a convincing display by the winners as they built up a commanding 7 point lead at half time of 2-10 to 0-9. Ronan Byrne with the opening point followed by points by David Kirby and Barry Slevin (65). Kildalkey then pointed a free but again Na Fianna responded with points by Peter Slevin & Ronan Byrne before Mark Slevin raised the first green flag of the evening. Kildalkey to their credit came more into the game and scored 4 of the next 6 points. Mark & Barry Slevin pointed for Na Fianna before Ronan Byrne netted his sides second goal as Na Fianna led 2-7 to 0-5. Jonathan McCloskey, Cian Slattery and Barry Slevin pointed before half time with their opponents registering 4 points in reply as Na Fianna held a deserved 7 point lead.
Na Fianna outscored their opponents by 9 points to 5 in the second half. The first four points of the second half were shared with Barry & Mark Slevin pointing for Na Fianna. Kildaley were awarded a penalty but their effort only raised a white flag when a goal was needed to get them back into contention. Kildalkey registered two further scores in the 4th quarter with further Na Fianna points by Barry Slevin (4), Mark Slevin, Peter Slevin & Jonathon McCloskey.
It was a convincing display by Pat O'Halloran's charges as they look forward to playing Donaghmore Ashbourne in Round 4.
