Sligo full back Kevin McDonnell believes that he has a point to prove against Mayo.

On Sunday at MacHale Park, McDonnell will get the chance to prove that point as he faces Mayo in the Connacht SFC quarterfinal.

McDonnell's last memory of playing Mayo is not a good one as his opponent Aidan O'Shea gave him a torrid time in a comfortable win for the Westerners.

“Obviously we played each other before and I came out the worst of that so I'd be looking to prove myself against him,” McDonnell stated to the Western People.

“These are the games you want to be playing; you want to be playing against the best players and Aidan is a quality player. You want to test yourself.”
