There was much sympathy for Mayo and their captain Cillian O'Connor on twitter after their latest All-Ireland final heartbreak.
O'Connor was inconsolable after his last-minute free to level drifted wide of Stephen Cluxton's right-hand post, with the Ballintubber man pulling his jersey up over his face to hide his tears after the final whistle.
Mayo's decision to change their goalkeepers before the throw-in and the absence of the traditional 'three cheers' for the losers in Stephen Cluxton's acceptance speech have also been the subject of much debate on social media...
For Mayo, another unspeakable cruelty.

You'd have to be sorry for Cillian O'Connor. He's usually deadly from the frees. #GAA #DUBvMAYO
