"Why not?!" - that was Andy Moran's answer to the question: can Mayo finish off the job in the Sam Maguire Cup decider?

Full-forward Moran was one of the stars of the Connacht side's five point semi-final victory over Tipperary, scoring four points, and now he's set his sights on that elusive Celtic Cross souvenir.

"Yeah, it's a great feeling," he told RTE's 'The Sunday Game'.

"We'll prepare now for either Kerry or Dublin in the final, we haven't been in one since 2013. Listen, it's a semi-final, we've won one, we lost two replays in-a-row so it's a great feeling.

"After we got bet by Galway in Connacht, if you gave us today we'd have definitely taken it."

Mayo put down a large deposit on their All-Ireland final ticket during a second quarter purple patch that yielded a return of 1-7.

"We've done that quite a lot in the qualifiers, against Kildare, against Westmeath. We've had the same patches so it's very important for us to go away now and work so that it doesn't take us 15, 18 minutes to get moving.

"For us it's going to be very important in the final to do that."

He concluded: "We've been in a few (finals) but we're sick of being consistent to be honest with you. I'd take one now at this stage so the next four weeks are going to be the biggest four weeks of our lives.

"With all the support here, why not?!"
