Mayo's bid to bounce back from last Saturday's surprise defeat to Galway has suffered a set-back with the news that full-back Ger Cafferkey is to be sidelined for the summer.

The Irish Independent reports that Cafferkey's hamstring injury, which ruled him out of the London and Galway games, is much worse than initially feared.

He is due to meet a specialist later this week to determine the full extent of the damage but there are concerns that he could be confined to the sidelines for three months.

Stephen Rochford and his backroom team will also have to plan without the services of midfielder Jason Gibbons who dislocated a shoulder in the loss to the Tribesmen.
