There was large turnout of Mayo senior footballers for last night's planned review meeting with county board officials at Elvery's MacHale Park.

Mayo captain Keith Higgins and vice-captain Cillian O'Connor had been due to attend the meeting, but they were joined by up to 25 of the squad in a show of support. The meeting took on added significance in light of the recent vote of no confidence passed by the players in joint-managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes.

The meeting lasted about 10 minutes before the players left without making any comment.

Among those who represented the county board at the meeting was chairman Mike Connelly, who is a brother of the joint-manager. The issue is expected to be discussed again by the Mayo executive this weekend.
