Kevin McStay and Fergal O'Donnell are set to be named as joint-managers of the Roscommon senior footballers.

The duo have been approved by the committee set up to find a successor to John Evans and all that remains is for the recommendation to be ratified by the County Board, which will happen within 24 hours.

All-Ireland MFC-winning manager O'Donnell enjoyed a previous three-year term at the helm, which yielded a Connacht SFC crown in 2010, while this will be McStay's first venture into senior intercounty management, although the former Mayo star did lead St Brigid's to the 2013 All-Ireland club crown.

Having recently departed his role as a Cavan selector, former Mayo midfielder Liam McHale will take his place in the new-look Rossies backroom team, with David Casey and Stephen Bohan also set to be involved.

A statement issued from within Rossies ranks reads: "A short time ago the committee appointed to find a successor to John Evans as manager of the Roscommon senior football team reached agreement with Fergal O'Donnell and Kevin McStay and will recommend to the county executive that the duo be appointed as joint-managers for a three-year term, with the option of a fourth year.

"Subject to approval by the executive later this week, their names will be brought before clubs for ratification at next week's meeting of the county board. A further announcement will be made in due course."
