What they said ... the weekend in quotes

"He got a bang on the shoulder so we will just have to wait and see."

James O'Donoghue's shoulder injury marred what was an otherwise perfect day for Eamonn Fitzmaurice and the Kingdom.

"We can't afford gaps like we allowed Dublin to get a few weeks ago and like we allowed Kerry to get today. We're certainly not as poor as either of those performances would suggest."

Kildare flattered to deceive once again and manager Jason Ryan cut a disconsolate figure at the final whistle.

"Look, it's been a long year but days like today make it worthwhile. It's great to be back."

After putting his cruciate ligament woes behind him, Colm Cooper made his 80th championship appearance in the Kerry jersey and marked the occasion with a return of 2-3.

"I didn't realise you could tackle the goalkeeper in Gaelic football."

Fermanagh's controversial first goal was one of the main talking points in Croker yesterday and Jim Gavin could afford a wry smile afterwards.

"I don't know what happened, he must have lost his footing or something."

Sean Quigley didn't do anything wrong!

"This team can win an Ulster title next year, I'm convinced of that, it's not arrogance but total belief. We need to carry this on and we will have other days here."

The future is bright for Fermanagh football according to Pete McGrath.

"You don't lift anything in a quarter-final and our record in quarter-finals isn't brilliant over all those years. We've lost as many as we have won."

Mickey Harte wasn't getting carried away following Saturday's win over Sligo.

"We really only had one blip in the year. Tyrone, they are seasoned Division One team, a top six team, whether people like it or not."

The Connacht SFC final result aside, it has been a year of progress for the Yeats County under Niall Carew.

"I'm not on Twitter so I'm not responsible for what's on that. Michael wasn't injured coming into the game. It was a very unfounded rumour."

The rumour mill went into overdrive before Donegal's game against Galway but the Michael Murphy injury story had nothing to do with Rory Gallagher.

"Of course, we'd love to have two or three weeks to prepare but we're going into it on the back of a victory and heads are up again. "

Colm McFadden and Donegal will renew acquaintances with Mayo in the last eight.

"Maybe there are certain teams out there who stick to the process all day and are happy to lose by three or four points but that's not in this team. I think we needed to go out and try and win that game."

Galway and Kevin Walsh gave it a go but came up short against Donegal.

"We're delighted to come through. It was a hugely competitive game, but when it came down to it, the girls showed great character and huge resolve to prevail."

Having overcome Clare on the pitch, Dublin camogie manager Shane O'Brien and his players must do it all again against Wexford today.
