Win pleases McLoughlin

Mayo junior manager Sean McLoughlin was delighted to see his side defeat Sligo in the Connacht JFC semi-final.

A goal separated the sides at the final whistle as Mayo ended Sligo's two-year reign as provincial champions.

Speaking to the Western People, McLoughlin stressed that they were keen to put things right having lost out last year.

"Yeah, we're very happy," said McLoughlin. "Last year, I said it to the boys inside that it'd take us a year to get back to where we wanted to be, to try to put things from last year.

"It was a huge team effort out there. We lost a couple of players in the 24hrs before the game, big players. But big players came in, Everyone manned up and I suppose when you get 20 fellas doing that, you're always in with a shout. That's what we got against Sligo."
