Mayo hurlers begin their Christy Ring Cup campaign this weekend as they take on Derry at Owenbeg on Saturday.
The Ulster side played at a higher level in the league and they will be favourites to start the campaign with a win.
Mayo manager JP Coen must plan without dual star Keith Higgins who is unavailable, but otherwise, they should have a strong squad to choose from.
The Connacht side had avoided relegation to Division 3A when they won a play-off and it is hard to see them get anything from this game on Saturday.
However, a loss does not end their participation in the championship as they will then go into the losers' section.
