Mayo boss Niall Heffernan is under no illusions about the task facing his side against Galway in tomorrow's Connacht U21FC semi-final at Elvery's MacHale Park.

Speaking to the Western People after last week's first round win over Leitrim, Heffernan stressed that Mayo would need to be at their best if they are to secure back-to-back championship wins in the grade for the first time in six years.

"Galway will be a huge challenge. They're a very good side with a lot of very good footballers, and a group coming off the high of Corofin being in the All-Ireland club final. So we have to prepare for that. We knew today was going to be a test, we didn't even think about Galway because we had to play Leitrim first.

"We got hammered by Roscommon last year so we had to go out and put Mayo football back on the map at U21 level."
