Mayo GAA Post Primary Senior Hurling Final

Ballyhaunis Community School Senior Hurlers captured the post-primary mayo hurling county final in fine style. The game was held in the misty Connacht centre of excellence on Tuesday the 25-11-2014. The Haunis lads got off to a mighty start with points coming from Niall Robinson, Bobby Douglas and Seán Kenny. Brian Morley and Bobby Douglas soon found the net and Ryan Kilbane added three more points. Calum Gardiner stormed up from centre back and struck a fantastic point. Ballyhaunis had now scored 2-8 without reply leaving Westport with a mountain to climb! Westport soon came back scoring 1-2 which left a glimmer of hope for the West Mayo lads. Aidan Henry and Davog Frayne worked tirelessly in the middle of the pitch with impressive help coming from defenders Adrian Boyle, John Cassidy and Michael Frayne. Seán Kenny, Niall Robinson and Brian Morley added three more points to the tally which left the half time score at 2-11 to 1-3.

Ballyhaunis had no intention of letting their lead slip and quickly added a brilliant goal coming from Niall Robinson after an inspired pass from Brian Morley. Ryan Kilbane netted two excellent goals and added another two consecutive points leaving his overall impressive contribution at  2-5!. Captain Davog Frayne who had displayed great leadership throughout the game added a point from distance. Brian Morley and Aidan Henry kept the scoreboard turning over with another three points. The Ballyhaunis backs were solid with only a point getting past the defenders in the second half. Goalkeeper Cormac Phillip and full backs Mark Phillips and Pj Burke cleared their lines well.  Dylan Niland and Darragh Crawley added their names to the scoreboard with Shane Crinnigan playing a part in the build up.

Adrian Hession presented Captain Davog Frayne with the cup. The full time score line finished at 6-18 - 1-3 which reflects the depth of talent in this group of players.
