Joint Mayo managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes celebrate the final whistle in the 2006 Cadbury All-Ireland U21FC final against Cork - INPHO

Mayo football supporters can expect to see a number of new faces in the team next season.

New joint-managers Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes believe it is time to freshen things up as they bid to finally bring home the Sam Maguire in 2015.

"Three or four years have passed with the current group, the younger lads down in the minor and U21 ranks have got three or four years older and there's a group of players there that really want to give it a good shot," Connelly is quoted in the Irish Daily Star.

"There are at least five or six fellas who could add a lot to the current panel of players. Hopefully, they can make a difference in the upcoming championship and All-Ireland series. Hopefully, if we get that far."

He added: "There's a panel of 34/35 players there over the last number of years and we have got to look at what's out there besides that.

"Without a view to that, we have brought in nearly 20 young players and put them on a strength and conditioning programme with a view to doing themselves justice when it comes to trial games. Everyone will be judged on merit when we start playing football."
