Colm O'Rourke's Sunday Independent column ruffled quite a few feathers on social media yesterday.
Under the heading "Radical or redundant - the GPA is facing a stark choice", the Sunday Game pundit's take on the Gaelic Players Association didn't go down well with a lot of their members.
He wrote: "The policy of smothering the GPA with kindness has worked a treat. It does not exist as a radical body acting on behalf of players anymore.
"It is not that the GPA is inactive. If you look at its website there is information on a lot of very useful projects that it is involved in, mental health awareness being one of them.
"One of the main problems I have with the GPA, however, is the sense of elitism emanating from it. It represents inter-county players and is unashamed in doing so.
"In my opinion it would be far better off doing something for club players, who are ignored on all sides."
The two-time All-Ireland winning Meath star's column generated quite a response and here's a selection of the tweets on the subject ...
The facts speak for themselves and sometimes we need to remind everyone what we do. #Players pic.twitter.com/lsTDGXhVNx

I think Colm needs to do a bit more research before writing such a lazy piece today about @gaelicplayers #cheapshot

Disappointing column from Colm O'Rourke today regarding the GPA.They don't need to channel all their great work through media or websites.

Great to see so many @gaelicplayers members being passionate about their Association...

Some criticism for @gaelicplayers today, completely unwarranted, they play a massive role for all past and present players of the GAA.

1/2 Not sure if I'm more angry or disappointed reading O'Rourke today regarding @gaelicplayers I shouldn't be surprised by his lazy analysis

2/2 I am among many that will be eternally grateful the @gaelicplayers are individuals of substance & haven't lost their youthful zeal #gaa

TweetDon't agree with everything Colm O'Rourke said in column today, but a lot right in it as well. Did GPA tell members to slate him on Twitter?
