Castlebar Mitchels joint-manager Alan Nolan believes that the bond between the players will help them defend their county SFC title on Sunday.
They face rivals Ballintubber in yet another county final having completed a long year following their run to the All-Ireland club final last March.
Nolan pointed to the fact that they were such a united bunch of players as the reason for them to be able to be still going at full tilt after such a long campaign.
"After the All-Ireland final, we took a three-week break. For the earlier league games, we rested some players and luckily because we have a big panel, it was a readymade opportunity to give some game time to other lads. We monitored the training schedule and gave them short breaks throughout the year," Nolan explained to the Mayo News.
"It helped that Mayo were having a good run too and there wasn't too much activity on the club front. This year it suited us because we were on the go for so long.
"Of course we were putting trust in our own players too, that they would do a little bit themselves to maintain the level of fitness Mayo club football demands."
