Liam McHale seems determined to be involved at inter-county level next year, but with which county?

The Ballina man, who has already been rejected by his native Mayo, is now being linked with a role in Cavan manager Terry Hyland's backroom team following the departure of coach Peter Donnelly to his home county of Tyrone.

The former Mayo and Clare selector was part of the Kevin McStay ticket for the Mayo job last month, but the duo lost out to Noel Connelly / Pat Holmes in controversial circumstances. McHale was understood to be part of Peter Leahy's failed bid for the Westmeath managerial vacancy last night, but it has since emerged that he had never agreed to join the Mullingar man as a coach.
