Junior B meets Intermediate in the Div 4 Final.

September 12, 2014

The second of the All County A League finals takes place this Saturday with Junior B side St Marys taking on Longwood from the intermediate championship in Bective.

After 11 games Longwood finished top of the table with 19 points, that included nine wins. Their only blemish was a loss to Curraha in round 4. St Marys finished one point behind Longwood with eight wins two draws and a loss to Clonard in round 10.

When the two teams met in round 8 the result was a high scoring draw. St Marys had a 100% league record heading into this encounter. St Marys certainly looked 2 grades inferior to intermediate side Longwood in the opening 10 minutes. The Donore side barely touched the ball as kick out after kick out was won by Longwood. But surprisingly Marys were only 3 points down after this horrific 10 minute opening. Longwood were ahead at the break 1-5 to 0-8. A point in the dying moments of the game salvaged a draw for the Marys.
