Mayo U16 Hurling Development Panel

September 10, 2014

The Mayo GAA U16 Hurling Development Panel travelled to Newry recently where they took part in the All-Ireland U16B Hurling Championship staged by Down GAA in St Colmans College and Pairc Esler.

The Mayo side were grouped with eventual finalists Derry and Wicklow on the day. In their opening game, Mayo went down to Derry on a 2-7 to 2-3 scoreline.

Later in the day, Mayo defeated Wicklow on a 3-6 to 3-3 scoreline to advance to the Shield semi final. In the Shield semi final, Mayo were pitted against Meath - with Meath running out eventual winers on a 4-10 to 2-6 scoreline.

The Mayo GAA U16 panel enjoyed their weekend stay in Newry and will have learned a lot from their experience of playing on this National stage.
